Bio
Morvarid Mehdizadeh is currently a medical student at Harvard Medical School and co-founder of Itty Bitty Patisserie LLC. Previously, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from UC Berkeley in 2017, earning a bachelor's degree with highest distinction and honors in Public Health. She was the finalist for the UC Berkeley University Medal (the highest honor at the university, distinguishing her as one of the top 5 graduates of her class) and was awarded the Public Health Departmental Citation, the highest honor within the major for distinguished contributions to public health.
Additionally, she was also a member of Phi Beta Kappa and was awarded the Leadership Award in recognition of innovative, initiative-driven, and motivational leadership in promoting health locally and globally. As an undergraduate, she co-founded Rebuild with Refugees, a multi-campus organization with a mission to promote refugee health both locally and globally through fundraising, advocacy, education, and volunteering. After graduation, the club was transformed into a non-profit, known as the Migrant Advocacy Project, which provides scholarships to refugees facing financial barriers to higher education. Prior to attending Harvard, Morvarid also spent 6 years conducting research on type 1 diabetes to progress a cure for this devastating illness. She was a member of the world-renowned immunologist Dr. Jeffrey Bluestone’s laboratory team at UCSF. Currently, she is the founder and president of the Harvard Medical School Iranian Society and is passionate about providing mentorship and support for aspiring physicians and young immigrants pursuing higher education.
